A blog about Marinwood-Lucas Valley and the Marin Housing Element, politics, economics and social policy. The MOST DANGEROUS BLOG in Marinwood-Lucas Valley.
Justin Kai makes a spirited defense of Marinwood-Lucas Valley and warns of the dangers within the Housing Element by concentrating 78% of all affordable housing for unincorporated Marin here. His testimony is cut short 20 seconds of completion by Planning Chairperson Wade Holland. The audience objects especially since Justin's last speech was never recorded at the June 24, 2013 due to an audio malfunction.
Commisioner Holland lost his temper and scolded the audience like preschoolers. This condescension was challenged by an audience member where upon Commissioner Holland called the Sheriffs to intimidate the crowd.
Chairperson Wade B. Holland lives in Inverness, the only location where affordable housing
Wendi Kallins of the Marin County Bicycle Coalition lives in beautiful Forest Knolls but wants all the affordable housing to be in Marinwood/Lucas Valley. She loves the Marinwood Village Plan.
Bruce Anderson, testifies. "I started the Bridge Marinwood Village Proposal ten years ago....." and yet he was also serving on the Marinwood CSD. It makes you wonder WHO he was representing when he failed to make his private interest and consulting work public.
Wade Holland thinks most of the development should happen in Marinwood-Lucas Valley because "they have the land". They also have land in Inverness where he makes his home. That didn't stop him from removing a senior development from HIS BACKYARD.
You'll remember Mr. Holland from his petty dictator antics, threatening to remove people from the Planning commission meeting by force. Tsk, Tsk.
This was a six hour meeting. To make a long story short. There was some GREAT testimony from the Citizens as usual. And as usual, they were ignored as Citizens never spoke. Incredulously, Ericka Erickson, activist leader from Marin Grassroots and a Marinwood Resident, claimed that there has "not been enough outreach. I think people are confused. We need to do a better job of communicating. The sustainables..." Opps. I think she means that there isn't enough activists to stem the tide against the radical activists like her. She is correct.
In the end, the Planning Commission decided to ADD 100 units of very low income to Marinwood/Lucas Valley. Once again, we have been screwed.
After hours of testimony over eight months, Planning Commissioner Wade Holland still hasn't heard of any objections to the Housing Element SEIR!! (Holland: "oh you know, excepting the Grassetti report and that's , you know...") See the full meeting for the previous four hours of testimony from an angry public.
The profound ARROGANCE in this dimissive attitude by this man is ASTOUNDING! If he has not heard from the public outrage at the SEIR and the HOUSING element over the last six months, he must be deaf, or a coward to look truth in the eye! There are no other words to describe this.
Does he think he is serving on the Planning Commission to be a proof reader? At stake is billions of dollars in private property, a school system and an entire community's future. This man is shameful and should be immediately dismissed from the commission. Does he think Marin is Cold War East Germany? We are a democracy, a free country and the people have a right to be heard and represented.
With the notable exception of one commissioner, the Planning Board is driven by ideology and allegience to politicians and housing advocates. No wonder the people have lost their faith in the Board of Supervisors, the Planning Commission, the Planners and "the public process".
