Video: Pleasanton affordable housing has 3.1 children per apartment!

Bridge Housing originally told us 1.8 children per unit can be expected (150 students) . Later they "adjusted" the figures to .8 students per apartment (60 students) .

Affordable housing in Pleasanton, CA has up to 3.1 students per apartment!

This is due to 2 families moving into each affordable housing unit.  Pleasanton taxpayers are forced to build new schools to accommodate affordable housing student population growth. If we have the same experience as Pleasanton we may be forced to accomodate an additional 250 students just from Marinwood Village at a cost of $10,000 per year per student!

In Marinwood/Lucas Valley, the Dixie school system is at capacity.  Even 60 additional students will come at great expense. We will have to purchase at least 3-6 portable classrooms at $150,000 each AND hire additional teachers and staff. We spend over $10,000 per student.  The cost of educating as few as 60 students may be $600,000 each year.  If special needs instruction or second language teachers are needed the cost skyrockets. Since we receive little state funds, the independant  Dixie Schools may be forced to merge with San Rafael schools to receive adequate funding . The Marinwood Village affordable housing proposal is just the first of five more affordable housing complexes that will boost our population by 25%.

If  you think the ill conceived "affordable housing" at Marinwood Village seems "too expensive" for the community, we urge you to join us at our next Monday meeting at 6:30 to 8:30 PM . email savemarinwood@gmail.com for  meeting details.
