This effectively DOUBLES the size of our community with low income housing. Market rate housing can still be built too. Thanks to new housing laws that were passed with the help of State Senator Mike McGuire and Assemblyman Marc Levine, single family housing zoning is abolished. Your neighbors can now split their lots and build a duplex with a "granny flat" on each one by law.
The Community Development Department shows 531 apartments for Marinwood/Lucas Valley on their website the Balancing Act but the County of Marin Housing element shows a stunning 2248 Apartments for our neighborhood. We only have 2200 housing units now.
The current housing laws are ridiculous and must be abolished.
